Create note

  • From the Workspace, click Software Library 
  • From the Navigation Pane, double click Operating Systems 
  • Right click Task sequence, click Create Task Sequence 
  • Click Build and capture a reference operating system image, click next 
  • For task sequence name, type Windows 10 TS 
  • From Boot image, click Browse 
  • Click Boot image (x64), then click ok, then click next 
  • From the Install Windows Screen, click browse, 
  • Click Windows 10 Enterprise Evaluation, in this case we don’t need a product key
  • Click Enable the account and specify the local administrator password, type password, click next 
  • From the Configure Network screen, click join a domain 
  • From Domain, type itflee.com 
  • From Domain OU, type itflee.com, click browse, then click Chicago, click ok Do not use the Computers OU this is not supported. 
  • From Account, click set 
  • From User Name, click browse, under enter the object name, type the Domain Admin account name, in this case I type sccmadmin, then click check name, then click ok 
  • Now type the password twice then click ok, then click next 
  • From Package accept Configuration Manager Client Package, then click next  
  • From include updates, we will choose Do not install any software updates, click next 
  • From Install Applications, we won’t install any applications, click next 
  • From System Preparation, click next, click next again â€¢ Specify where the captured image file should be saved. 
  • From Capture Image, type \\itfsccm01, then click browse 
  • Double click the Windows 10 Images folder, then double click the Deployments folder. 
  • For file name type win10, click save 
  • For Account, click Set 
  • At the Windows User Account, click Browse, type sccmadmin, click check names, then click ok 
  • Type the password twice, then click ok, then click next, then next again, then click close. 

Edit the Task Sequence 

For our task sequence, we chose Build and Capture a reference operating system image. The purpose of this lecture is to deploy the windows O/S to our VM and not to capture an image. So, to accomplish our objective, we will disable capture the reference machine. We also disabled the import of device drivers, because this step is not needed for this lecture.

  • From the List View, right click on Windows 10 TS, click edit 
  • From the left side, click Capture the Reference image, click Options, then check disable this step, then click ok. 

Deploy the Task Sequence to a Collection 

  • Open Configuration Manager, from the List View, click Windows 10 TS 
  • From the Ribbon Click deploy
  • from Collection, click browse, from the warning box, click ok. 
  • Click All Unknown Computers, click ok, then click next 
  • For Action Click install, for purpose click Required 
  • From Make available to the Following: select Only media and PXE, (this will ensure that you do not sent the deployment) on clients, click next 
  • From the Scheduling tab, check Schedule when this Deployment will become available, enter the desired date and time, click new 
  • Click Assign immediately after this event, Select As soon as possible, click ok,
  • From Rerun Behavior select Always rerun program, click next 
  • From User experience accept the defaults, click next 
  • From Alerts, click next 
  • From Distribution Points, click next, then click next 
  • Click close
