If you are using a local lab like Hyper-V or VirtualBox, make sure it is not using DHCP already before we install another DHCP service. This article describes how you can turn off DHCP for VirtualBox.
Turn off Your VirtualBox (or other Virtualization Software) DHCP Service
Before we install the DHCP server role, we need to make sure that the VirtualBox network that is connecting our VMs is not functioning as a DHCP server.
If you are using a NAT network, then follow these steps:
- Open the VirtualBox Manager and click File > Preferences.
- Navigate to the Network tab
- Double click on your NAT Network and make sure the "Supports DHCP" checkbox is NOT checked.

4) Click OK to close out of the window and the preferences window
